We're a small family run business but what we lack in size we make up for with great service, making us one of the UK's best online shops for geek merchandise.
Perhaps we had better start at the beginning?
When the internet was still in its infancy, before Paypal was even available in the UK we were trading on the long gone auction site Auction Universe in 1999. As digital cameras weren't around at that time, sales listings didn't usually feature pictures and often had very little information so buyers would rely on the seller's feedback to know if they were trustworthy or not. At that time we sold as a hobby, selling extra Star Wars figures to fund buying the harder to find Freeze Frame figures. Darth Vader with Removable Helmet, The Death Star Trooper, Ree Yees, The Death Star Droid and Zuckuss were some of the most sought after alongside the usual favourites like Luke Skywalker, Yoda, Obi Wan Kenobi, Princess Leia, R2-D2, C-3PO, Stormtroopers, Boba Fett and Chewbacca. Episode One: The Phantom Menace had just come out and needless to say we sold every Darth Maul in a matter of days...Jar Jar Binks, not so much.
The selling of Star Wars figures helped fund a new growing addiction - Transformers. While Beast Wars was the big thing, it was the old Generation One figures that took my interest as I discovered figures I never knew existed from Japan, Mexico and other faraway lands. As I found more and more variations amongst the Bumblebee, Optimus Prime, Megatron and Soundwave figures I accumulated, I started a small site to catalogue them: Skywarp.co.uk This site was the first time an accurate list of Japanese Generation One Transformers was ever compiled and also had photos of nearly all of the figures released in Japan. In addition, there were sections for rare variations including the Minibots Cliffjumper, Bumblebee, Huffer, Gears, Brawn and Windcharger.
By 2003 my interest in Transformers was waning somewhat and by 2005 Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith had me collecting Master Replicas, Star Wars action figures, Gentle Giant Busts and Statues and the life size busts from Sideshow Collectables. In 2010 Transformers drew me back in and in 2013 Masterforce was launched -- a website dedicated to selling Transformers. Within a year or so, Masterforce was selling Star Wars Figures, Hot Toys, Funko Pop Vinyl Figures, Barbie, Frozen, My Little Pony, Pokemon and more. From there the site branched out to clothing, the earliest deliveries were all gaming and superhero related - Avengers, Metal Gear Solid, Batman, Assassin's Creed, Harley Quinn, The Joker, Venom, The Punisher and other favourites.
By now Masterforce was struggling to keep up with everything. As you know, Funko produce a lot of Pop Vinyl figures so we had stacks of Guardians of the Galaxy, Disney Princesses, Masters of the Universe, Wall-E, Alien, WWE, Spider-Man, Iron Man, Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, anime, gaming and other Pops. At this time Gear4Geeks was born!
Masterforce retained the toys while Gear4Geeks branched out into leggings, vests, hoodies, homewear, a much larger range of t-shirts and anything else we could fit onto the site. Some of the early brands we brought in were Darkside, Voodoo Vixen and Jawbreaker as we branched out into alternative fashion. As these proved popular we expanded with Banned Apparel, Innocent Clothing and Heartless. The increased range of t-shirts saw us add cult movies like American Psycho, Ghostbusters, Back to the Future along with band t-shirts from only the biggest names like The Foo Fighters and Motorhead.
In 2016 we sold Masterforce to concentrate on Gear4Geeks and Blog4Geeks. Since that time we've expanded our selections with even more band merchandise like Ghost, Iron Maiden, Orange Goblin, Metallica, Rage Against the Machine, Megadeth and other top rock, metal and alternative artists. Our Funko Pops are now cheaper than ever before as we now buy directly from Funko, we've also driven down the prices of geek t-shirts like Harry Potter, Marvel, DC, Batman and Superman thanks to our great suppliers. To make sure we can cover as much as possible we try to rotate our stock allowing us to get new designs in all the time. We also try to keep a varied stock of hairbands, badges, patches, keychains, lanyards and other accessories, so whether you're a fan of Rick and Morty, Adventure Time, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Doctor Who, Deadpool, Harley Quinn, The Avengers or anything else then we have something for you.
Our blog, Blog4Geeks, started out with small news pieces on gaming, wrestling and toys but has quickly expanded with exclusive interviews with Orange Goblin, The Great Discord and Jeannie Clarke. Thanks to our extensive coverage of Ghost, we have some dedicated followers and have started developing huge guides like Ghost - Prequelle: The Ultimate Guide which clocks in at over 7,000 words!
Whether you're looking for street wear, rockwear, geek fashion, goth fashion, vintage style, alternative fashion, cool band t-shirts, awesome superhero t-shirts, novelties, gifts or cool toys then Gear4Geeks has something for you!
